Managing Maintenance Mode in Content Builder

Written by Human-Focus

Maintenance Mode allows you to temporarily make a training unavailable to learners while updates or maintenance are being carried out. When enabled, learners will not be able to access the training until Maintenance Mode is disabled.

The Maintenance Mode option is located in the top-right corner of the Selected Content panel, making it quick and easy to access while editing a training.

Enabling or Disabling Maintenance Mode

To manage Maintenance Mode:

  1. Open the required training in Content Builder.

  2. In the Selected Content panel, locate the Maintenance Mode toggle.

  3. Select the toggle to enable or disable Maintenance Mode.

  4. Save your changes if prompted.

A tooltip is available to help you locate the Maintenance Mode option.

Adding a Maintenance Message (Optional)

When enabling Maintenance Mode, you can optionally add a custom maintenance message. This message can be used to inform learners why the training is temporarily unavailable or provide any additional information, such as when the training is expected to become available again.

To add a maintenance message

  1. Enable Maintenance Mode.

  2. If required, enter a message in the Maintenance Message field.

  3. Save your changes.

If no message is entered, learners will still be prevented from accessing the training while Maintenance Mode is enabled.

Editing a Maintenance Message

If a maintenance message has been added, it can be updated at any time while Maintenance Mode remains enabled.

To edit the maintenance message

  1. Open the training in Content Builder.

  2. Locate the Maintenance Mode section.

  3. Select the Edit option next to the maintenance mode option.

  4. Update the message as required.

  5. Save your changes.

The updated message will be displayed to learners immediately when they attempt to access the training.

What Learners Will See

When Maintenance Mode is enabled:

  • Learners cannot access the training.

  • If a maintenance message has been added, it will be displayed to learners when they attempt to open the training.

  • If no maintenance message has been provided, learners will still be informed that the training is currently unavailable due to maintenance.

Once Maintenance Mode is disabled, learners can access the training as normal.
